The airline commenced daily flights from Dubai International Airport to Don Mueang International Airport on July 1 and noted that summer travel demand justified the rapid increase in frequency. The expanded flydubai Bangkok flights will operate from Terminal 3 at Dubai International, offering two departures daily to Thailand’s capital and providing more options for leisure and business travelers moving between the UAE and Southeast Asia.
Alongside the additional Bangkok flights, flydubai is also increasing its Krabi services from four flights a week to daily, bringing its total weekly flights to Thailand to as many as 21. Bangkok is flydubai’s second Thai destination after Krabi and is part of a broader Southeast Asian route network that includes Langkawi and Penang in Malaysia. The route connects the airline directly to Don Mueang, one of Bangkok’s two main international airports, while also increasing seat availability during a period when many carriers serving Thailand are expanding their schedules from the Gulf region.
Sudhir Sreedharan, flydubai’s divisional senior vice president of commercial operations, stated that the second daily flight is a response to strong initial demand for the new Bangkok service. He mentioned that Don Mueang offers convenient access to central Bangkok and that the additional flight provides travelers greater flexibility during the busy summer travel season. The airline has not disclosed specific booking or passenger load data for the route. Nonetheless, its scheduled change moves operations from seven to 14 flights per week, making flydubai’s Bangkok service a more prominent part of its Thailand operations starting July 18.
The Bangkok route is integrated into the codeshare agreement between flydubai and Emirates. Under this partnership, eligible passengers can book seamless itineraries, check through baggage to their final destination, and connect via a combined network exceeding 240 destinations. The flights depart from Emirates’ Terminal 3 at Dubai International, facilitating connections through Dubai for travelers arriving from or heading to markets across the Middle East, Europe, Africa, and the Americas. The published schedule designates Don Mueang International Airport as the endpoint for both daily services, providing a direct link between Dubai and Thailand’s capital.
Don Mueang receives extra Dubai services
Return Business Class fares from Dubai to Bangkok start at AED 12,000, while Economy Class Lite round-trip fares begin at AED 2,600, according to flydubai. From Bangkok, Business Class round-trip fares start at THB 91,000, with Economy Class Lite fares from THB 21,000. The airline noted that the route is operated using Boeing 737 aircraft and highlighted recent cabin upgrades across its fleet, including lie-flat seats on select Business Class configurations, redesigned Economy seating, meal service, and inflight entertainment on most aircraft. Fares are subject to availability, booking terms, and travel dates chosen by travelers.
This increase in frequency comes amid flydubai’s ongoing network expansion, which includes new routes such as Benghazi in Libya, as well as upcoming services to Aleppo in Syria starting July 20 and Pokhara in Nepal launching on September 23. The airline now serves over 140 destinations in 58 countries with a fleet of 97 Boeing 737 aircraft. Since launching operations in June 2009, flydubai has transported more than 137 million passengers and has opened more than 100 routes that previously lacked direct Dubai connections or were underserved by a UAE carrier.
Summer travel surge prompts schedule growth
For Bangkok, this rapid expansion follows the initial daily service that started on July 1. The new schedule, beginning July 18, will feature 14 weekly flights from Dubai to Bangkok and seven weekly flights to Krabi, totaling 21 weekly flights to Thailand. Passengers can book the additional flights through flydubai’s website, mobile app, contact center, travel agencies, and partners. With the schedule now confirmed, travelers can compare departure times, fare options, and onward connections through Dubai. This growth also enhances the Emirates codeshare network’s capacity to Bangkok via Don Mueang during the busy summer travel period.
